Update on 2013’s Most Exciting Artists

At the beginning of this year, I wrote of all the musical releases that I was eagerly anticipating this year. Three months into the year, many of these artists have begun releasing the material that I was awaiting, or have made other achievements worth looking out for.

Paramore’s Comeback

With their album due to be released on the 9th of April, Paramore have released the video of their new singe, Now. The beautifully cinematic video for the track is below:

Rizzle Kicks’ Ascension

Rizzle Kicks are one of the artists that are guaranteed to keep churning out brilliant songs this year after skyrocketing to headlining gigs in 2011 and 2012. Their wonderfully simplistic track, Earl Grey, has an equally stripped-back video featuring just Jordan Stephens’ lyrics:

Fun.’s “Why Am I the One?”

Surely the guys from fun. are still recovering from their whirlwind 2012, but they’re clearly not slowing down, having released a new video (the poignant story of a rejected suitcase)  just a week ago:

San Cisco’s “Fred Astaire”

Australian indie sweethearts have delivered yet again with their bouncy and witty Fred Astaire, with a simple and energetic video, giving the band an opportunity to flaunt their moves:

Johnny Marr’s “Upstarts”

With Johnny Marr’s first solo album having been released two weeks ago, fans are abuzz to see their hero coming into his own. His no-nonsense video for the first single, Upstarts, demonstrates that the 49-year-old has never lost his touch:

Lana Del Rey – Modern Diva

Continuing to expand her vocal range and exploring her love of cinematic music videos, Lana Del Rey is back with the soundtrack to the Great Gatsby:

The Mend’s Debut

Pitched as the release I was most eager for in 2013, The Mend have not failed to rise to expectations. Having released their first music video, the sleek Where Were You, The Mend have got fans eager for their album coming out later this month. Watch the video below:
